Older People
As we get older, the need for training can begin to become clearer. We may not be as strong, not as fit, maybe even not as stable as we once felt. With a combination of resistance training and cardio, we can change course. We can add strength instead of losing it, we can begin to feel more stable and more in control.
Moving forward with training is about appropriately dosing the stimulus that creates adaptation. What does that mean? It means we use exercises (the stimulus) that you are able to complete (the dose) to create change in you (adaptation). We can then alter that dose to continue creating change. That is how training works, and it will work for you too.
It's not about pushing to do more, or doing so little that it's ineffective. It's about doing the right amount, for you so you feel safe and in control while you make progress. It's my job to make sure that happens for you.
Training For Our Older Members
Coaching
When you begin, I will teach you how to perform the movements comfortably and safely. As you progress, you need only ask for assistance and you will have it. Whether it be for a new movement, an old one, or any other query, I will be on hand to assist you. This is built into the cost of your membership.
Skills
I will teach you what you need to know about technique and managing the weights you use. It’s easier than you might think. I will make sure you have what you need to progress.
Application
I will adjust the programme to suit your current abilities. You will not only have a plan to follow, but the reassurance of knowing it was created not for someone else, but for you.
Progression
Your programme will be written in 8-week blocks. What that means is that every 8 weeks, I will look at how the previous block went and use that information, along with your feedback, to write your next 8 weeks. And remember, you can ask for help at any point along the way — it’s all built into the cost.
